Puppies & Adoption Process
Thank you for your interest in a Storyteller Cavaliers puppy. Our goal is to thoughtfully place each puppy into a loving home where they will be cherished as a true member of the family. Cavaliers are affectionate, people-oriented companions who thrive when surrounded by love, attention, and daily companionship.
At Storyteller Cavaliers, we are deeply passionate about preserving and improving the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breed through responsible breeding, health testing, temperament evaluation, and intentional puppy raising. Because our puppies mean so much to us, we take great care in selecting families who are prepared for the lifelong responsibility and joy that comes with owning a Cavalier.
Cavaliers typically live 12–15 years, and welcoming one into your life is a long-term commitment. We encourage all prospective families to research the breed carefully and ensure a puppy fits comfortably within their lifestyle and future plans.
Our Adoption Process
Our adoption process is designed to help us get to know each family and ensure the best possible match between puppy and home.
Step 1 – Adoption Application
The first step is completing our Adoption Application. This allows us to learn more about your family, home environment, lifestyle, and what you are looking for in a Cavalier companion. Please email storytellercavaliers@gmail.com to inquire about an application.
Step 2 – Review & Communication
Once we receive your application, we will review it and may reach out to discuss your expectations, experience, and lifestyle in more detail. This helps us ensure that a Storyteller Cavaliers puppy will be the right fit for your home.
Step 3 – Reservation Deposit
If approved and you would like to reserve a puppy from a current or future litter, a $500 reservation deposit is required. This deposit secures your place on our reservation list.
Before submitting a deposit, please complete:
- Adoption Application
- Deposit Contract
Please reach out via email for an Adoption Application as well as Deposit Contract. EMAIL: storytellercavaliers@gmail.com
Step 4 – Puppy Selection
Once puppies are old enough for evaluation, we help guide families toward the puppy whose temperament and personality best fits their home and lifestyle.
Step 5 – Going Home
Puppies typically go home around 10 weeks of age after receiving early socialization, crate training foundations, and their initial veterinary care.
What Comes With Your Puppy
Each Storyteller Cavaliers puppy goes home with:
- Health records
- Microchip
- AKC registration application
- Pedigree of the parents
- OFA health clearance information
- A detailed puppy binder with care, nutrition, and training guidance
Our goal is to help make your puppy’s transition into their new home as smooth and successful as possible.
Our Commitment to Our Puppies
At Storyteller Cavaliers, we take the responsibility of breeding Cavaliers very seriously and are committed to the lifelong well-being of every puppy we raise.
For this reason:
- We do not sell to brokers, pet stores, or commercial breeding programs
- Puppies are placed only in carefully selected homes
- Puppies are sold on limited AKC registration with a spay/neuter agreement
Full AKC registration may be considered only under special circumstances.
If at any point during the dog’s life a family is unable to keep their Storyteller Cavaliers dog, we require that the dog be returned to us so we can ensure they are safely placed in a loving and appropriate home.
Preparing for Your Puppy
We strongly recommend that families plan to spend the first several days at home with their new puppy. This adjustment period is important for bonding, establishing routines, and helping the puppy transition comfortably after leaving their mother and littermates.
Whenever possible, major events such as vacations, moves, or large gatherings should be completed prior to bringing home your puppy. Cavaliers thrive with consistency, structure, and calm environments during their first weeks in a new home.
Transportation
We do not ship puppies.
However, we are happy to meet families at the airport and help prepare puppies for a safe and comfortable flight home in a soft-sided airline carrier.
We can also provide recommendations for a trusted flight nanny if needed.
We Look Forward to Meeting You
Finding the right homes for our puppies is incredibly important to us. We truly enjoy building relationships with the families who welcome our puppies into their lives and love staying connected as they grow.
If you believe a Storyteller Cavaliers puppy would be a wonderful addition to your family, we would love to hear from you.
Additional Information
If you are interested in placing a deposit on a current puppy (under 10 weeks of age) or reserving a spot for a future litter, please review and complete the Deposit Policy & Contract before submitting your deposit.
